Excavator

Workers who need to exercise judgement to sling loads or who direct crane movement from outside the crane operator’s full view (such as with whistle signals or radio)

Dogging consists of two main aspects:

  • The slinging techniques used for moving a load (including the selection and inspection of lifting equipment).
  • The directing of a hoist or crane operator who is moving a load, when the load is out of the operator’s view.

Simply put, someone who engages in dogging is called a Dogger.

Course Description:

The “Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations” course provides specialized training in excavator operations, particularly on large construction sites and during infrastructure projects. This course is applicable to individuals working in site-based roles and is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out excavator operations involving lifting, carrying, and placing materials.

Here’s an overview of what’s involved in the course:

1. *Plan and Prepare for Excavator Operations:*
– Developing a comprehensive plan and making preparations for the efficient and safe execution of excavator operations.

2. *Drive and Operate Excavator:*
– Driving and operating the excavator using techniques tailored to the capabilities of earthmoving equipment, site and work conditions, and in accordance with workplace procedures.

3. *Monitor Hazards and Risks:*
– Vigilantly monitoring hazards and risks throughout operations to ensure the safety of oneself, other personnel, and plant and equipment.

4. *Dispose of or Recycle Materials:*
– Properly handling the disposal or recycling of materials in accordance with workplace procedures.

5. *Clear Work Area:*
– Clearing the work area efficiently and based on workplace procedures.

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of excavator operations, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and compliance with workplace procedures. It equips individuals with the skills needed to contribute to the successful execution of civil construction projects involving excavator operations.

Course Outcomes
