Dogging consists of two main aspects:
Simply put, someone who engages in dogging is called a Dogger.
This Intermediate Rigging Course is designed to impart students with the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out rigging tasks related to the movement of plant and equipment, steel erections, hoists (including mast climbing hoists), placement of pre-cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, perimeter safety screens and shutters. Additionally, it covers the handling of cantilever crane loading platforms for the purpose of obtaining a license.
To qualify for an HRW Licence, the following prerequisites must be met:
1. Adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Legislation, encompassing Acts, Regulations, and the Duty of Care.
Develop a deep understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation, including Acts, Regulations and the Duty of Care. In Intermediate rigging, you will learn to apply these principles to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
2. Application of Australian Standards and National Standards.
During Intermediate rigging training, you will learn to master the application of Australian Standards and National Standards relevant to rigging operations. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
3. Proficiency in planning for Intermediate Rigging work.

Hone your risk management skills to identify, assess and control risks associated with rigging operations. Implement effective risk mitigation strategies to minimise the potential for accidents and injuries.
5. Effective communication with Crane Operators.
Cultivate strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with crane operators, supervisors and other team members. As part of your Rigging Course, you will learn how to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
6. Strategic planning for Duel Lifts.
Master the art of planning and executing safe and efficient duel lifts. Understand the critical factors, such as load distribution, synchronisation and communication.
7. Expertise in the erection of Tower Cranes.
Gain expertise in the erection and dismantling of tower cranes. Learn about the various components of tower cranes, rigging techniques and safety procedures.
8. Capability to rig and de-rig Lattice Boom Cranes.
Develop the skills to rig and de-rig lattice boom cranes for various lifting applications. This Rigging Course will teach you how to select the appropriate rigging gear and techniques for different load configurations.
9. Familiarity with Demolition Work procedures.

An Intermediate Rigging Course is designed to build upon foundational rigging skills. It focuses on advanced techniques, safety protocols and complex lifting operations. This course prepares individuals for more challenging construction, engineering and industrial roles, often leading to higher-level certifications and increased earning potential.
An Intermediate Rigging Course will teach you advanced rigging techniques, risk assessment, complex lift planning, crane operations, steel erection, precast concrete placement, demolition rigging and compliance with OH&S regulations. You'll also develop strong communication and problem-solving skills.
An Intermediate Rigging Course comprises five days of theory-based and practical training to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.
You must first have a CPCCLRG3001 Licence to Perform Rigging Basic Level & CPCCLDG3001 — Licence to Perform Dogging to start the Intermediate Rigging Course. You must also have successfully completed the Basic Rigging Course before enrolling in the Intermediate Rigging Course.
Rigging training typically involves hands-on training with various rigging equipment, including cranes, conveyors, dredges, excavators, tilt slabs, demolition and dual lifts. You'll learn to select, inspect and use this equipment safely and effectively.
Upon completing the Intermediate Rigger course, you will receive a CPCCLRG3002 – Licence to Perform Rigging Intermediate Level & High-Risk Work Licence (RI).
A basic Rigging Course covers foundational knowledge and skills, such as rigging terminology, equipment selection, load calculations and basic lifting techniques. An intermediate course is the next step up and delves deeper into complex rigging operations, advanced techniques, risk management and specialised equipment. It prepares individuals for higher-level certifications and more demanding roles.
